Omnia Vincit Musica
The Early Music Festival of Seville starts today its XXXVIII edition. As usual we can report a hight quality of this meeting. Twenty-eight concerts cover some of the milestones of early Hispanic and European music. Thus, we can higlight the monographic dedicated to Las Cantígas of Alfonso X the wise (by the Artefactum group, on March 13) or the concert dedicated to medieval dance by Jose Luis Pastor (March 27). Even more, of the great composers of the continental Baroque appears at different times, such as the concerts dedicated to the work of Bach or the music of Monteverdi. Early English music will also have a special day dedicated to it, on March 19 (by Accademia del Piacere), and the Hispanic polyphonists (including Tomás Luis de Victoria), together with Flemish musicians od the Renaissance, will also have special consideration as the closing of the festival (April 4) in a joint participation of Ministriles Hispalensis and Ottava Rima.
As a chronological extreme, it is the concert dedicated on April 2 to Beethoven and Schubert (by Juan Pérez Floristán). The full program can be consulted on the festival's website.
